Online Grief Information Sessions

Do you have questions about grief?

Unsure if what you're thinking or feeling is normal?

Looking for practical strategies to manage your grief?

Wondering how best to support someone else who is grieving?

People who attended our last session said:

"The subject of grief is not something that's widely taught or spoken about. I can't believe how much I learnt in that one session alone."

"Thank you for a wonderful learning experience"

"Everyone says that there is no right or wrong way to grieve, but I felt the presentation gave this weight"

What will you be talking about?

We will discuss a range of topics including:

  • what are the physical and emotional impacts of grief?

  • how long does grief last?

  • how can I manage the practical challenges of bereavement (e.g. deciding what to do with someone's belongings)?

  • how do children grieve and how can I support a child who is grieving?

  • what are the specific challenges faced by people after the death of a spouse, a parent, a child, a sibling, friend or other relative?

  • what strategies will help me to cope as well as possible?

Who can attend?

  • anyone experiencing grief and bereavement

  • anyone wanting to support someone experiencing grief and bereavement

  • professionals who want to build their knowledge and skills or are looking for information following their own experience of bereavement

  • professionals who want to attend a session themselves before referring their patients and clients

Will other people be able to see me?

These sessions take place online using a program called Zoom. You are welcome to attend the session with your webcam and microphone switched off. Questions can be asked using the 'Chat' function, which allows you type messages. You will be able to see and hear the presentation and remain completely anonymous if you wish to.

How much does it cost?

We are offering these sessions for FREE as we want to make sure that anyone who needs this information is able to access it. We are particularly aware that many people have lost jobs and experienced a reduction in their income because of the impacts of COVID-19. We do not want anyone to miss out on these sessions because of their financial circumstances.

We are asking that people who have not experienced a reduction in their income consider paying to attend this session. This payment will be used to cover the costs of running these sessions and ensure more sessions in the future, including offering free spots to those who need them.

Can family and friends watch the session with me?

You are welcome to watch this session with as many members of your household as you would like. You do NOT have to buy additional tickets for each person who's watching on the same device. Please feel welcome to forward this email to friends or family who don't live with you so they can register for their own ticket.

The next Grief Information Session will take place on Wednesday, 10th June at 7pm (AEST).
